Arrange the blocks to your liking, laying them out somewhere near the sewing machine (if possible) so you can see what you're doing as you sew.
Flip the first row face-down onto the second row...
...and sew them together. Don't worry about the gaps; they'll be taken care of later.
Feed the blocks in without breaking the thread between them. This will save you a lot of time and hassle.
Repeat for the next row: flip, sew. (Hey, it rhymes.) You can flip the loose blocks onto the "already sewn" section, or the "already sewn" section onto the loose blocks. Whatever works.
Pin the flipped blocks to the "already sewn" section to keep everything together, if necessary.
Two seams done.
Repeat all the way across.
All right! The blankie is now ready to be sewn in the other direction.
