Quick Turn Pinning

Using Terrycloth as Denim Quilt Backing
Lay your backing material out on a relatively hard, flat surface and smooth out any wrinkles or puckers. If the material has any seams, make sure the seam allowances are on the bottom, or wrong side down. Think of it as putting the quilt and backing together face-to-face, or backwards, or inside-out. Whatever makes the most sense to you.

Quilt Top on Terrycloth
Lay the quilt top over the backing, right side down.

Pinning the Quilt Top and Backing Together
Pin the top and backing together with safety pins. NOTE: You really don't need to pin in the middle like I did (wasn't paying attention *cough*). What you want is for the edges to be secure.

Cutting the Quilt Top and Backing Free
Cut around the edges of the top. It's okay to leave a little extra terrycloth around the edges because it will pull under the top when handled.

Pinning the Edge
Since I didn't use a walking foot while backing this quilt, I also pinned around the edge with straight pins. Overkill, maybe, but I do think it prevents the two fabric layers from getting too "out of sync" during sewing.

Okay! Time to sew.
